With nearly 40 years business improvement and supply chain optimization experience, Rus Mayborne has dedicated his career to improving aerospace manufacturing supply chain performance. Rus began his career as an electrician at Turbomach, which subsequently became Sundstrand, Hamilton Sundstrand, UTC Aerospace and now Collins Aerospace. Rus rose through the ranks by starting out as an electrician working primarily in Gas Turbine Test Cells, and became a Production Test Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Producibility Engineer, Gas Turbine Assembly and Test Manager, and eventually Senior Manager of Supplier Development.

 

Rus understands Lean manufacturing, quality and the supply-chain at every level and spent several years teaching and mentoring employees. In his most recent role as Senior Manager at Collins Aerospace, he led the Supplier Performance Improvement Group, responsible for the entire Western portion of the Midwest Region. Through Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Lean implementation, making quality improvements and reducing variation, Rus enables businesses to maximize production efficiencies, which creates a win/win environment for all. Rus has mentored his direct reports by working side-by-side with them through supplier assessments, training, and hands on workshops which has helped many companies attain and sustain Performing level and Gold level status, leading to improved profitability, increased capacity and growth for each business. 

 

While in the U.S. Navy, Rus completed Gas Turbine Operator and Gas Turbine Electrical Systems Maintenance Training and achieved a GSE2 rating prior to the end of his 4-year enlistment. Rus used his GI Benefits to get his bachelor’s degree in Business from National University with emphases in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Management Information Systems. He is certified in Lean Manufacturing through UC San Diego and received his ACE Practitioner Certification from Collins Aerospace. He is a frequent trainer and speaker, helping companies achieve both Zero Defects and 100% On Time Delivery including:

Based in Rockford, Illinois, Rus is married and enjoys spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. He also enjoys watching professional and college sports, playing golf, hiking and biking.
